As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Croatian citizens are visa-exempt for short visits (up to six months) to Canada for tourism, business, family visits, or other non-work or non-study purposes. This means that Croatian passport holders can travel to Canada for these purposes without obtaining a visa in advance.

However, even though a visa is not required for short visits, there are still some important entry requirements that Croatian citizens must meet when traveling to Canada:

  1. Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA): While a visa is not required, travelers by air to Canada must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before boarding their flight. This is an entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals traveling to Canada by air. You can apply for an eTA online through the official website of the Government of Canada.
  2. Valid Passport: Croatian citizens must have a valid passport for the duration of their stay in Canada. Ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date from Canada.
  3. Proof of Sufficient Funds: Immigration officers may ask travelers to provide evidence of sufficient funds to cover their expenses during their stay in Canada. This may include bank statements, a letter of invitation, or other financial documents.
  4. Return Travel Tickets: It’s a good practice to have a return or onward travel ticket to demonstrate your intent to leave Canada after your visit.
  5. Health Insurance: While not mandatory, it is recommended to have travel health insurance to cover any unexpected medical expenses during your stay in Canada. Healthcare in Canada can be expensive for non-residents.
  6. Criminal Inadmissibility: Canadian immigration authorities may deny entry to individuals with a criminal record. Ensure that you are not inadmissible to Canada by checking your eligibility on the official Government of Canada website.
  7. Purpose of Visit: Be prepared to explain the purpose of your visit to the immigration officer at the port of entry. Be honest and provide any necessary documentation, such as a letter of invitation for a family visit or business meetings.

Please note that immigration rules and requirements can change, and it’s essential to verify the most up-to-date information on the official website of the Government of Canada or consult the nearest Canadian embassy or consulate before planning your trip. Additionally, always check for any updates or changes to the entry requirements and travel conditions, especially if you plan to visit Canada in the future.
